Newcomers and Experience to Mix

Having the right balance is key for any mix. You don’t want too much of one thing, and too little of another. They have to be in the right proportion so that everything mixes right and all goes smoothly. Such is the case for this year’s ACC Chargers boys’ baseball team. With returning players at multiple positions, that experience will be joined by new players as well as a new head coach.

Basketball Wrap Up: Incredible

1.65. That’s it. Not even a full 2. Just 1.65. But that 1.65 makes 461 all of a sudden becomes 761. That number—761—is ACC’s adjusted enrollment due to the private school multiplier that affects all Catholic and private schools. That multiplier made Central the smallest school in the IHSA Class 3A. For the Chargers, that meant going up against public schools with more than 1,400 kids that didn’t have to deal with the adjusted enrollment. Feel bad for the Chargers yet? Don’t—the team didn’t.

Weather Policy Needed

Aurora Central is an extremely diverse school community, different in ethnic background, in family life, and in location of its students. The latter, however, was ignored on February 6th, 2008, the day of a great snowstorm. The inclement weather and dangerous road conditions were predicted days before, yet the students of our school were expected to attend.

Tradegy Strikes Close To Home

As we all know, another school shooting occurred on February 14th, 2008, but this time it was in our own backyard. Late in the afternoon on February 14th, a gunman walked into a Geology classroom in the Cole Hall building of the Northern Illinois Campus and opened fire. Six people were killed and sixteen students were injured.
