Lady Chargers off to a great start!

 The Lady Chargers are off to a fast start to their season with some impressive race results and loads of talent!  They have placed well in all of their major meet competitions including top 3 in the Aurora City Meet, 2nd in the 20 team ICOPS Invite, 3rd at the 12 team Yorkville Invite, and recently won the ACS Invite. They currently have a record of 8-0 in dual/triangular meets!  Coming into the season the coaching staff felt that with the good summer training the team put in, they are capable of having a successful season. Leading the returnees are a group of upperclassmen with top 7 varsity experience led by senior returning state track qualifier Natalie Perry, soph Bailey Shemenski, juniors Nicole Bohr and Allison Alosio, Sr Melissa Lindsay, Sr Katie Petry, Sr Bianca Guzaldo, So Amanda Contreras. The team is bolstered by some very talented newcomers who have made an immediate impact led by Soph Anna Sestak coming off of a solid track season, senior Robyn Lee, and fab frosh Jenna Koerner and Corinn Groom.  Sestak and Perry recently earned all-city honors and those two along with Koerner, Shemenski, and Groom have run consistently in the top 5!  The Frosh-soph team is also showing some promise with sophomores Emily Schwender, Adilene Rubio, Katie Colyer, Kennedy Bubolz, and freshmen Amy Green, Jemma Waldrop, and Alexandria Woodhouse. Julie Martinez is this years intern for the coaching staff and is doing a fantastic job for the program. ACC currently has 21 athletes on the roster. The Lady Chargers compete next at the 55 team Peoria-Notre Dame Invitational at Detweiler Park on the IHSA State Meet course.

Men look to go to the next level!

 The ACC men’s team had an outstanding summer training as a team. According to Coaches Kerber and Villa, “With some effort and improved focus this could be the best Charger team in 10 years!”  In the early season ACC has jumped off to a fast start posting impressive finishes in the Aurora City Meet, 2nd of 20 team at the ICOPS Invite, 4th of 13 team at the Yorkville Invite, and recently winning the ACS Invite!  Leading the way are two outstanding returnees in All-City: Sr Manuel Saucedo and Jr Jimmy Spencer, a returning track state qualifier. Saucedo and Spencer give us two solid front runners in the early going. According to Coach Kerber, “The key for this team in the state series will be the continued development of the rest of the pack!”  Also, returning with Varsity top 7 experience are a trio of returning track state qualifiers, seniors Dan Kottkamp, Ben Garcia, and John Jochum. Sr John Cisneros has been running consistently in the top 5 , as well as super soph Alex Duncan. Other key returnees and a total of 35 athletes makes this one of the deepest teams in the rich history and tradition of ACC CC!  Also adding depth to the team is seniors, Allen Maddock, Matt Hearne, Brian Rudolph, and juniors, Adam Miller, Nolan McCue, and Ray Elizondo 

Top freshman Matt Meyers has been racing top 3 Varsity and is currently ranked as the top freshman out of the 29 schools ACC has competed against so far this season.

Other top newcomers are junior Michael Sestak, who has cracked the top 7 a few times, soph Arnulfo Olivia and frosh Oscar Gomez rotate from the Varsity to the Frosh-Soph team. Coach Kerber says, “We are very excited at the potential of our entire 16 member freshmen team, which we feel with more training and race experience these kids could be an outstanding team for us!”  Some of the freshmen include Derek Harris, Jeremiah McCue, Daniel Aguilera, Benito Vega, and Steven Mattas. ACC will also be competing at the legendary Peoria-Notre Dame Invitational against some of the best 3A and 2A teams in the state at Detweiler Park the IHSA State Meet course in Peoria!  Stay tuned!

The ACC XC runners could use your support now more than ever. As the team gets antsy for Peoria, their nerves begin to arrive. Give them some pats on the back and come cheer them on. Also anyone looking for something to do is welcome to come join the team. The XC team is still accepting new members of any shape and size who wants to get off the couch and come have some fun, so feel free!!!
