<!—StartFragment—>With a new coach at the reins, the varsity volleyball team has made some major changes. The team no longer expects to lose; they go into every game with a winning attitude and settle for nothing less.

Jeanne Czipri is the new varsity coach and is changing the program around. Czipri, has loads of experience to back her up. Coach Czipri played varsity volleyball at West Aurora High School, and she attended the University of New Hampshire on a volleyball scholarship. Since her graduation from college, Czipri has coached club volleyball, the Geneva High School team, and now Aurora Central Catholic.

The varsity girls have been putting in long hours since late June. The girls had a week of sand volleyball and double sessions for the next four weeks. The team engaged in weight lifting twice a week after practice. For five Thursdays in July, the varsity team played in the high school summer league at Great Lakes Center in Aurora.

Try-outs were held August 12-14 for two hours each day. The first day was agility testing, running the mile, jumping, wall sits, etc. The next two days were strictly volleyball testing. On Friday the 14th all levels rosters were made. Each team is made up of 12 players.

The varsity’s first four matches resulted in wins. The varsity won their season opener against Elmwood Park in three sets. The next game was against Plano on the 31st of August which also resulted in a win in three sets. PawPaw came to town on September 3rd and lost to the Chargers in two sets. The Varsity has played in two tournaments so far and done very well in both. The Chargers got their first conference win against the Montini Catholic Broncos on September 9th, the program has never beaten Montini before. The team finished 4th at the Timothy Christian Invite and finished 5th at the LaMoille Invite.

The team looks forward to a great season and a great next few years under the rein of Coach Jeanne Czipri. Losing is no longer an option; it’s win or die trying in the minds of the 2009 Varsity volleyball team. The team’s motto this year is, “Too Legit to Quit.”
