Seussical the Musical

The Seussical was a success! Audiences were amazed by the performances of ACC’s students.

It started off with the Cat in the Hat, played by Cody Bergman. As the play continued, the audience was captivated by the gripping story line. You could tell how hard the cast had worked to get every scene perfect. Their dancing was synchronized, and the singing was pitch-perfect. I got a chance to interview some of the students who participated in the play. Jessica Wesley, one of the bird girls, had this to say,” I was so ecstatic that we polished out the rough spots of the play and gave impeccable performances.” The play was full of suspenseful situations and hilarious jokes. If you didn’t get a chance to see the play, here is a brief summary: the play is about an elephant named Horton, played by Sean Grismer and Chase Weber, who finds a dust speck. Living on this dust speck, are the citizens of Who. Horton befriends a young Who named Jojo, played by Ashley Bohr and Autumn Gilligan. Also living on the speck are Jojo’s parents Mr. Mayor, Dakota Lewis, and Mrs. Mayor, Katie Allison. Jojo and Horton come across many interesting characters in this play including, Gertrude Mcfuzz (Tegan Rogers and Kate Abell), Mayzie LaBird (Stephanie Schuetz and Jessica Minott), the Sour Kangaroo (Lena Sellen and Jamie Minott), Yertle the Turtle (Rachel Gonzalez), General Genghis Kahn Schmitz (Chase Weber and Sean Grismer), and the 4 Bird Girls (Jena Thomas, Kelsey Bohr, Lorena Arriaga, and Jessica Wesley). All goes wrong for Horton when the dust speck is stolen by the Wickersham Brothers, who were played by Ryan Werrline, John Smart, and Zane Kirkpatrick. Horton goes on a treacherous journey to find the speck, and eventually retrieves the speck from Gertrude Mcfuzz. This play was full of excitement and laughs, and was definitely worth waiting for, especially if you attended the last performance on Sunday night!
