Registration Changes

When registering for the upcoming school year, in years past students got the day off and went around the gym to different tables to sign up for their classes. It was quite an adventure. When registering last year and the 2010-2011 school year, things were quite different. Instead of running around the gym trying to get the classes that they wanted, students had to run around the entire school to get signatures for classes that they might get and registered with parents during evening or Saturday hours. Central Times decided to get some answers and talked with Mr. Krebs.

Central Times: What do you think of the new way for registration?

Mr. Krebs: It’s less work for me, and it gives parents the chance to get in and do things. The old way didn’t allow that.

Central Times: Why did you decide to change the way Central does registration?

Mr. Krebs: The work is the same, but the parents get a chance this way.

CT: How is the new registration different from the old registration?

MK: All the counting and work was being done before registration, now it’s being done after.

CT: How do you think the students have responded to the new way of registering?

MK: Most like it better, only a couple liked the old way.

CT: Do you think it was easier for students this way or the old way?

MK: I think it is easier the new way.

There has been some positive feedback for the new registration. Junior Paige Gruenke said “I personally like the old way, but the new way has good points. You don’t have to run around the gym anymore, and you are guaranteed your classes.” There have also been some complaints. Junior Jessica Wesley said, “I liked the old way more because I got to choose when my hard classes were. It especially helps during sports.”  Senior Lauren Schweitzer said, “I preferred the old one where you went into the gym.”  Most students favor the old registration because they knew exactly what there were going to get, and they got to choose when they wanted to take their classes. Others liked the simplicity of it. Junior Peter Gavin stated, “I liked the old registration, because it was easier, you could get it done all at one time.” Others loved it just because they could, like senior Rachel Gonzalez who said, “I loved the old registration!”  Whether you like the old registration or the new registration, it will always be a crazy chaotic task. It just depends on how you look at it.

Just make sure you capitalize

Just make sure you capitalize the first words in each part of the interview!

“A: Most like it better, only a couple likd the old way.”- liked.

“the work is the same, but the parents get a chane this way.”- chance.

Registration

Good journalism to go to a key decision-maker. I’m very proud of you! Also, I get it that it’s a draft. Considering adminstration is involved you may feel careful but don’t let that stop you getting the whole story. Who is doing the complaining and what are they complaining about?  Students-at least grade level, and more specifics that they miss or don’t like? Also, how about some teacher or department head imput?  Who is it less stressful for?

Looking forward to your investigative reporting. You go…

Woops

“Freshman” and other years should not be capitalized, my mistake.
