Jazzing Around the Town

The ACC Jazz Band placed in Division II at the 2010 University of Illinois Chicago High School Jazz Festival. They competed against other high school bands from the area and performed excellently.

Director, Mr. Brian Patti stated, “The band played with great energy and excitement, with spirit.” They were judged by the UIC Jazz Faculty , and Mr. Patti believes they were judged fairly. After ACC’s band was judged on their performance, the UIC Faculty Band Combo provided coaching, and then performed for the students. Band members were very excited to participate in the competition and showed an interest in the university’s scholarships. Someday our own ACC students might be playing with the Chicago Orchestra that is directed by Orbert Davis, who is a member of the faculty band at UIC. The ACC Jazz Band is sure to return to the yearly festival and will most likely be working with UIC again.
