ACC Invited to All-Catholic Honor Band

On Saturday, January 28, 2009, Mr. Brian Patti, conductor of the ACC band, brought eleven students to Vandercook College of Music to play in the All-Catholic Honor Band. These young musicians were selected for their notable playing and given the opportunity to perform with other area high school bands. The music is considered to be college level, so I felt quite honored to learn that I was invited to join this distinguished group. We departed at 7:30 in the morning, bussed by Mr. VanderVelde. After arriving at the college around nine o’clock, we practiced together with the other bands until about three in the afternoon, with lunch paid for by the college. There was a small concert for those who wanted to attend. It was an exciting experience and the music selections were incredible. Afterwards, Mr. V and Mr. Patti even brought us to Oberweis for a small treat.
