Top 10 iTunes - 2008

2008 was a great year in music, with some really memorable songs. There were a lot of breakthrough artists, like Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, but also some artists coming back with new albums, such as Guns N’ Roses and New Kids on the Block. And even some songs released a year before being replayed just because we love them, specifically “All Summer Long” by Kid Rock. The year started off in January with Natasha Bedingfield’s hit, “Pocketful of Sunshine,” and ended in December with Britney Spears’s “Circus.” Here are the top ten hits of 2008:

10) “Don’t Stop the Music,” Rihanna - This song was not released in 2008, but peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 Hits during 2008.

9) “Love Song,” Sara Bareilles - Again, this song wasn’t released in 2008, but hit it high right behind “Don’t Stop the Music” at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 Hits this past year.

8) “Pocketful of Sunshine,” Natasha Bedingfield - Released January 2008, and peaked at #5, right after Love Song.”

7) “No Air,” Jordin Sparks & Chris Brown - This single came out in May 2008, and was at its best in the charts at #3.

6) “Lollipop,” Lil’ Wayne & Static Major - Released on Tha Carter III in August 2008 and peaked at #1 on the charts for 5 weeks.

5) “Disturbia,” Lil’ Wayne & Static Major - Released in June 2008, “Disturbia” topped the charts for 2 weeks at #1.

4) “I Kissed a Girl,” Katy Perry - This single came out in May 2008 and even though controversial, rocked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Hits for a hot 7 weeks.

3) “Low,” Flo Rida & T-Pain - Came out on Flo Rida’s album “Mail on Sunday” in March 2008, and stayed at #1 on the charts for an amazing 10 weeks.

2) “Viva la Vida,” Coldplay - This single was Coldplay’s first hit since 2005. It was released in June 2008 and topped the charts for 1 week as #1.

And the top song of 2008 is (drum roll please)…

1) “Bleeding Love,” Leona Lewis - This song was released in December 2007, one month short of 2008, but still stayed at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Hits in 2008 for a full month before fluctuating between #1 and #2 for a while. Leona Lewis has some really powerful pipes and showed them off again and again for later hits such as “Better in Time,” and “Footprints in the Sand.”
