Halloween 2
Was Rob Zombie trying to make going to see the movie the horror part of this Michael Myers saga? Maybe you’ve seen it, maybe you haven’t. And if you haven’t, don’t waste the $6.00. No one can deny that Rob Zombie has a knack for movie making. The movie kept me going, I was never bored. Although, having said that, my list of complaints begins. My first criticism of this movie was the whole, “Mommy made me do it” idea. This is Michael Myers we are talking about. The last movie gave us enough explanation on WHY he kills people. We don’t need a federally run background check on his home life. And what happened to middle-class, happy family Haddonfield? This new movie portrays the once all-American town as though it has been ruined by fire and an 1800’s disease. The characters all looked very grimy and completely unappealing. Another major complaints isn’t the blood or even the kill count. What drove me to insanity was the completely unnecessary, over stimulated sounds of cutting, squirting, slicing, and crunching sounds. They should have followed in Marvel’s footsteps and had giant bubble letters on the screen reading “Splat!” or “Pow!” All in all, this was not a Halloween film. If Myers didn’t display the William Shatner mask, I wouldn’t have been able to even tell. Maybe it was the grunts that Myers made almost reminded me of the Hulk, or maybe the fact that the Halloween theme song wasn’t heard until the end credits. Maybe I’m just cynical of the entire movie for who knows what reasons. But in my opinion, Halloween 2 will not be worth renting on video, let alone spending money to watch in a theater.
